Choose the right campaign for your SMS outreach based on the use case, list size, campaign timeline, and other additional aspects.
In case your use case is such that you have to send long text messages that go in multiple segments, here are a few things that you should consider:
SMS:
SMS stands for Short Message Service. SMS allows you to send 160 characters per text. It gets split into segments if your text is longer than 160 characters. You can read more on message length and segments here.
MMS:
MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service. MMS allows you to send a multimedia message which includes pictures and a text message of 1600 characters. You can get complete details on file formats and allowed file types here.
Which campaign is best for me?
1) In case your text message is small and the list is not too long, you may choose to send messages through an SMS broadcast campaign.
2) In case your text message is small but the list is too large, then you should choose Peer to Peer campaign with an adaptive texting block. This is required as carriers monitor all messages and they tend to filter numbers based on various factors, some of them are discussed here. Adaptive texting block keeps track of filters numbers and rents a new number to make sure that your campaign is not affected.
3) In case your message is within 5-6 segments long and you wish to reach a large number of contacts then it is advised to use Peer to Peer campaign using MMS with an adaptive texting block.
4) In case your message is more than 5 segments and you wish to reach a large number of contacts in minimum time, we will suggest you rent a Shared shortcode and send the messages from the SMS broadcast campaign.
