Voice Broadcast campaigns that involve business or commercial communication must now meet updated federal telecom (TCPA) and carrier compliance requirements.
These changes are designed to:
- ✅ Ensure your campaigns remain compliant and deliverable.
- 🚫 Prevent campaign suspension or blocking by telecom carriers.
- 🔒 Protect both your organization and CallHub from legal and regulatory violations.
⚙️ What’s Changing?
Carriers have tightened enforcement of rules governing automated calls and pre-recorded voice messages.
To align with these regulations:
- All business/commercial Voice Broadcast campaigns will now require additional verification and approval.
- CallHub will conduct proactive compliance checks before launching a campaign.
- Campaigns without proper verification will be paused automatically until compliance is confirmed.
💡 What This Means for You
If your campaign is business- or commercially-oriented, you’ll receive a notification alert asking you to contact our support team for verification and approval. This ensures your campaign is classified correctly and meets all telecom and regulatory standards.
Why This Change Is Needed
Federal law (TCPA) prohibits automated voice calls or pre-recorded messages that deliver business or promotional content to:
- 📱 Cell phones
- 🏠 Residential numbers, unless one of the following applies:
You have the recipient’s prior express written consent, or you have an Established Business Relationship (EBR) with the recipient. These laws help prevent spam calls and protect consumers’ rights.
What You Need To Do
To keep your business campaigns active, please complete the following:
1️⃣ Obtain STIR/SHAKEN Verification (Mandatory)
📞 STIR/SHAKEN is a carrier-level authentication framework.
It verifies your caller ID identity and prevents caller ID spoofing.
This verification is required for all business Voice Broadcast campaigns.
2️⃣ Sign an Attestation Document
You’ll need to certify one of the following:
- 🧩 Established Business Relationship (EBR) — You confirm that the recipients are existing customers or have interacted with your business recently.
- ✍️ Consumer Opt-In (Consent) — You confirm that all recipients have given written consent to receive automated voice messages.
Note: The Self-Attestation document is attached to this guide.
📖 Established Business Relationship (EBR)
An EBR exists when you’ve had a transaction with the recipient within the last 18 months, or the recipient has made an inquiry about your products/services within the last 3 months.
These compliance measures are mandatory under federal telecom law and carrier policies. They help ensure your Voice Broadcast campaigns are:
✅ Legally compliant
📞 Deliverable
🔒 Protected from carrier blocking
Our Support and Compliance Team will help you verify your campaign classification, complete the SHAKEN/STIR registration, and sign/submit the attestation documents.
