Download your contact data as a CSV, or remove contacts and contact lists you no longer need, one at a time, in small batches from the dashboard, or in bulk with a CSV upload.
Why use this
Exporting gives you a copy of your contact data outside CallHub, so you can back it up, analyze results, or move numbers into another tool. Deleting keeps your account clean: you stop paying attention (and outreach) to stale numbers, your lists stay accurate, and your campaign reports reflect the people you actually want to reach. Expect an export or a small delete to take a minute or two; a bulk CSV delete takes about 5 minutes including file prep.
If your goal is to skip certain contacts in campaigns rather than destroy their data, delete is the wrong tool. Use Suppression Lists instead, so the contacts stay in your account but are never dialed or texted.
Before you start
- You need access to the CallHub dashboard with permission to manage contacts.
- Exporting is safe and repeatable. Deleting is not.
- Takes ~2 minutes for an export or a small delete; ~5 minutes for a bulk CSV delete.
⚠ Deleting a contact is permanent and account-wide, not just for one list. The contact's campaign history is lost and cannot be recovered. Export the contact list first if you might need the data later.
⚠ Contacts that are part of a running campaign cannot be deleted. Stop the campaign first, then delete. See Add or remove contacts in a running campaign.
Export contacts
You have two export options, and both live on the same page. Export Phone numbers produces a CSV with only the contact numbers. Export Contact List produces a CSV with the contacts' full data.
- In the sidebar, go to Contact Lists.
- Select the contact list you want to export.
- Open the Contacts tab.
- Click Export Phone numbers to download a CSV of contact numbers only, or click Export Contact List to download a CSV of the contacts' full data.
Delete individual contacts from the dashboard
Delete a single contact
- In the sidebar, go to Contacts.
- Find the contact and click the x button next to it.
Delete up to 10 contacts at once
- In the sidebar, go to Contacts.
- Click the checkbox next to each contact you want to delete.
- Click Actions, then Delete Selected. The selected contacts are deleted from your account.
ⓘ The dashboard multi-delete handles up to 10 contacts at a time. To delete more than 10, use the CSV bulk delete below.
Delete contact lists from the dashboard
Delete a single contact list
- In the sidebar, go to Contact Lists.
- Find the list and click the x button next to it.
Delete up to 10 contact lists at once
- In the sidebar, go to Contact Lists.
- Click the checkbox next to each list you want to delete.
- Click Actions, then Delete Selected. The selected lists are deleted from your account.
ⓘ You can delete up to 10 contact lists at a time this way. To delete many contact lists in bulk, send a ticket to CallHub support at support.callhub.io.
Bulk delete contacts with a CSV file
Use this when you have more than 10 contacts to remove. You upload a CSV of phone numbers, and CallHub deletes every contact that matches.
- Prepare a CSV file with a single column named
Phone numbers, one number per row. Do not include the + sign or the country code. The phone number is the mandatory field; deleting the phone number deletes the contact. - In the sidebar, go to Contact Lists.
- In the menu, click Delete Contacts.
- Upload your CSV file.
- Select the country for the contacts. All contacts in one upload must belong to the same country.
- Click Delete Contacts.
ⓘ A delete CSV is formatted differently from an import CSV. An import CSV needs the + sign and country code on each number; a delete CSV must not have them. Choose the country during the upload instead. If your numbers span multiple countries, split them into one file per country.
Notes & limits
⚠ Deletion is permanent. The contact's campaign history cannot be recovered. There is no undo, so export first if in doubt.
⚠ The system will not delete a contact that is part of a running campaign. Stop the campaign, then retry the delete.
✓ If you only want to stop contacting certain people, add them to a suppression list or your Do Not Call list instead of deleting them. You keep the history and stay compliant.
FAQs
Can I undo a delete or recover a deleted contact?
No. Deletion is permanent and removes the contact from your entire account, along with their campaign history. Export the contact list before deleting if you may need the data later.
Why won't my contacts delete?
The most common cause is that they belong to a running campaign. Stop the campaign, then delete the contacts. Also check that your delete CSV has a single Phone numbers column with no + or country codes.
How do I delete more than 10 contacts at once?
The dashboard multi-delete caps at 10. Use the CSV bulk delete: upload a one-column CSV of phone numbers through the Delete Contacts option on the Contact Lists page. For deleting many contact lists (not contacts), send a ticket to CallHub support.
What's the difference between Export Phone numbers and Export Contact List?
Export Phone numbers downloads a CSV with only the contact numbers. Export Contact List downloads a CSV with the contacts' full data. Use the full export for backups; use the numbers-only export when another tool just needs the numbers.
