CallHub has launched Spam Label Shield—a fantastic tool to 2x answer rates and avoid showing up as spam to contacts. Here's why you need it.
Spam Label Shield is a real-time monitoring system that helps identify the health of your campaigns and the numbers used as Caller ID in your calling campaigns. This system indicates exactly when a number is marked as Spam, who marked it as Spam, and replaces the Caller ID of your campaign with a new number.
The main idea of Spam Shield is to avoid unnecessary call blocking and call labeling and improve the call deliverability of your campaigns.
Why Spam Label Shield?
- Calls from legitimate sources are getting marked as “Spam/Spam Likely.”
- Caller ID reputation is not constant. It keeps changing over the course of the campaign, and campaigners are unaware of it.
- Filtration by carriers has increased since 2021 due to TRACED act/FCC SHAKEN/STIR rules.
- Providers are not guaranteeing the number reputation while renting.
- Campaign managers cannot figure out why their calls are not getting answered by contacts.
How do carriers mark a number as spam?
Carriers usually look at the call volume before marking a number as Spam. The majority of carriers have internal thresholds that keep an eye on call volumes for unusual activity. Carriers may conclude that an individual phone number is using automated dialing or spam if it makes more than a specific number of calls per minute, day, or week.
In these situations, the carrier may flag your number as likely to be a robocall or spam number by assigning it a flag score.
Spam Shield identifies this activity and replaces the number with a new number to ensure the calls are answered without any issues.
Can the historical use of a number impact its spam score once a new customer rents it?
Carriers have a resting period before they reuse a number. This ensures there is a cooling-off period before a new consumer uses a number that might have received a spam score. The resting period typically lasts 15 days.
But the more severe the spam score of a number, the larger the resting period before a number is marked as clean. A phone number with an extremely high spam rating can take anywhere from 30 to 60 days or even six months.
However, carriers sometimes make the number available again before it has had a chance to cool off due to the limited availability of numbers on the market. This indicates that when a new customer uses the number, it is considerably more likely to receive a high spam score.
Because of this, if the carriers see anything strange while the campaign is in progress, the number's spam score will increase much more quickly than it would for a number without a history of spam reports.
What happens when a number is flagged?
When a number is flagged as Spam, the CallHub system identifies this report and replaces the number with a new "clean" number to ensure the user's campaigns are not interrupted.
You can navigate to the "Numbers" section under the "Rented Numbers" tab and hover over the "Flagged" option to find out who exactly marked the number as Spam.
A rented number can be marked as Spam if
- It is marked as Spam by the carrier.
- It is marked Spam by third-party applications such as Nomorobo or Robokiller.
- It has an FTC complaint against it.
- All of the above.
