What is the difference between SMS and MMS?
The main difference is the type of content you can send via those 2 messaging tools.
MMS is enriched SMS, with multimedia content-enabled along with the plain text. It allows you to send images, videos, sounds, GIFs along with the text. You can send a multimedia message up to 5 MB including a text message up to 1600 characters. MMS messages generate (8% or more) engagement rates with your audience and result in better conversions.
SMS is sweet and simple, you can send a text which may or may not include links. You may even add other details, but the main thing is that everything you’re including has to be plain text. SMS has a text length limitation of 160 characters. Longer messages are charged more. In the US/CA, if you have a message spanning more than 500 characters, it is advisable for you to send an MMS as that turns out to be more engaging and cost-effective.
