Want another channel for nurturing your contacts beyond calls and texts? An Email Campaign sends templated, scheduled emails to your contact lists or segments, right alongside your SMS and Call Center campaigns. This article walks you through setting one up; it's for campaign managers who already use CallHub for calling or texting and want to add email.
Before you start
- You need a verified Email Domain and a Sender Profile built on that domain. See Setting up a Sender domain and profile for your Email Campaign if you haven't done this yet; it includes the domain verification (DKIM and Return Path) steps.
- You need campaign manager access to create a campaign in CallHub.
- Setup runs through five short sections: Basic Info, Content, Audience, Verify, and Schedule. Expect it to take about as long as setting up any other CallHub campaign.
Why use Email Campaigns
Email Campaigns work like your SMS and Call Center campaigns, but through a channel your contacts check on their own time. You can turn prospects into customers with engaging, templated emails, and encourage first-time customers to become repeat buyers with consistent, scheduled follow-up. Because email campaigns draw on the same contact lists and segments as the rest of CallHub, you're growing the same relationships across every channel, calls, texts, and now email, without maintaining a separate list just for email.
Step 1: Start the campaign and add basic info
- From the Home page, click Create, then select Email as the campaign type.
- Name your campaign.
- Set the Subject your recipients will see.
-
Choose the Sender Profile you set up earlier.
Step 2: Build your email content
-
In the Content section, choose Saved Template if you've already built one for a previous campaign, or Create new Template to build a new one.
-
If you're creating a new template, choose a design, font, images, GIFs, or video content in the Email Template Builder.
- Click Proceed, enter a name for your template, and save it.
-
Review the preview of how your template will look inside the campaign.
Step 3: Choose your audience
-
In the Audience section, choose a Contact List, contacts already added to your CallHub account through a CSV file, or build a Segment, a filtered set of contacts using AND/OR combinations of contact lists and tags.
-
Click Save to add your chosen audience to the campaign.
⚠ Once you save a segment into the campaign, you can't edit it. Why: if your target audience needs to change, build a new segment and add that one to the campaign instead.
Step 4: Verify your setup
- In the Verify section, review the campaign settings you've entered so far.
- Click Next once everything looks correct.
Step 5: Schedule and finish
- Set the campaign's Start date and Finish date.
- Set the Daily Operational Hours and the days you want the campaign to run.
- Click Finish to complete the campaign setup.
Notes & limits
⚠ A segment is locked in once you save it to the campaign. To reach a different audience, build a new segment and add it in place of the old one.
✓ Send yourself a test email before the campaign goes out, so you can see exactly what your template looks like in an inbox. If something's off, you can Pause the campaign and Edit it before it reaches your contacts.
FAQs
What do I need before I can create an Email Campaign?
A verified Email Domain and a Sender Profile built on that domain. See Setting up a Sender domain and profile for your Email Campaign.
Can I reuse a template from a previous campaign?
Yes. In the Content section, choose Saved Template instead of building a new one.
Can I change my audience after I've added it to the campaign?
Not if you added a Segment. Segments lock in once saved to the campaign, so build a new segment and add it in place of the old one if your audience needs to change.
Can I preview what my email looks like before it sends?
Yes. Send a test email to yourself from the campaign, and use Pause and Edit to make changes if anything needs fixing before it goes out.
