Want to call and text the people in your nation without exporting a single CSV? Connect NationBuilder to CallHub once, and you can pull in your lists, tags, surveys, sites, and events, run calling and texting campaigns on them, and have every result written back to the contact's NationBuilder profile in real time.
This article shows you how to connect your nation, control which phone numbers CallHub uses, and import your first list. If NationBuilder is your system of record, connecting it to CallHub means:
You skip manual imports. Lists you build in NationBuilder appear in CallHub with one sync, ready to use in any campaign.
You keep one contact history. Survey responses, tags, and RSVPs collected on calls and texts land on the person's NationBuilder profile automatically.
You stay compliant without extra work. When a contact opts out, CallHub updates both platforms for you.
Before you start
- You need the name of your nation (the first part of your NationBuilder URL, for example
yournationinyournation.nationbuilder.com). - You need NationBuilder admin credentials to authorize the connection.
- You need a CallHub account with permission to manage integrations.
- Connecting takes about 5 minutes. Lists sync on demand with Sync now.
ⓘ CallHub only imports contacts that have a phone number and a country set in NationBuilder. If your imported contact list looks smaller than the NationBuilder list, that is the usual cause.
Connect your nation
- In your CallHub account, go to Integrations from the left-hand menu.
- In the NationBuilder section, enter your nation name and click Connect.
- On the NationBuilder login page that opens, sign in with your NationBuilder admin credentials and authorize CallHub.
Enter your nation name and click Connect to start the authorization.
Choose which phone numbers CallHub uses
CallHub decides which NationBuilder phone field becomes the contact's primary number, and you can change this from Import Settings at any time.
- For texting campaigns, CallHub imports the contact's Mobile phone. If the mobile number is missing or invalid, the contact is imported without a texting number.
- For calling campaigns, CallHub imports the contact's Home phone. If the home number is missing or invalid, CallHub uses the Mobile phone instead.
- To change these defaults, open Import Settings in the NationBuilder section and pick the mapping you want.
- Use the checkboxes in Import Settings if you want to ignore specific contact preferences set in NationBuilder.
Import Settings controls which NationBuilder phone fields CallHub imports.
Import a list
Build your list in NationBuilder first (in the Lists section of your nation). Then bring it into CallHub:
- In CallHub, go to Integrations and open the NationBuilder section.
- Click Sync now to fetch your latest lists, sites, surveys, tags, and events from NationBuilder.
- Click Select list to import.
- Select the lists you want and click Import.
Sync first, then select the lists you want in CallHub.
You can also import a NationBuilder list directly into a suppression list to exclude those contacts from your campaigns.
Notes and limits
⚠ Opt-outs sync both ways. When a contact opts out of your campaign, CallHub adds them to your CallHub DNC list and writes a DO NOT CALL label to their NationBuilder profile automatically. Do not remove these manually, because contacting opted-out people can violate TCPA and local calling rules.
ⓘ A contact without a phone number or a country in NationBuilder is skipped at import. Add both to the contact's NationBuilder profile, then sync and import again.
✓ Click Sync now whenever you create or change lists, surveys, tags, sites, or events in NationBuilder. CallHub shows you the data from the last sync, so a quick sync before campaign setup keeps everything current.
FAQs
I created a new survey in NationBuilder, but it doesn't show up in CallHub. Why?
A NationBuilder survey must be attached to a NationBuilder page before the API makes it available for import. The page can be unlisted. In your NationBuilder admin console, go to Website, create a new page, and assign the survey to it. Then return to the NationBuilder section in CallHub and click Sync now.
My imported list has fewer contacts than the NationBuilder list. What happened?
Contacts without a phone number or a country set in NationBuilder are not imported. Fill in both fields and import again.
What happens in NationBuilder when someone opts out?
CallHub writes a DO NOT CALL label to the contact in NationBuilder and adds them to your CallHub DNC list, so both platforms stop future outreach.
Opted-out contacts get the DO NOT CALL label in NationBuilder automatically.
