Set Up a Text to Donate Campaign

Want supporters to donate by texting a keyword to your number? This guide walks you through setting up a Text to Donate campaign using a rented number and a keyword, so donors receive your donation link automatically and you can track everything raised in one place.

Before you start

Make sure you have:

  • A rented number on your CallHub account to receive the keyword texts.
  • A keyword in mind (the word supporters will text to your number).
  • A contact list to use as your donor list.
  • Your donation form link. Any donation form link works, but Raiser's Edge NXT form links unlock donation tracking — if you plan to use one, connect your Raiser's Edge integration first.

Create the campaign

  1. From your dashboard, go to Campaigns > New campaign and select Text to Donate Campaign from the drop-down.
  2. Enter a name for the campaign.
  3. Set the goal amount — the total you aim to raise from this campaign.
  4. Choose your number, your keyword, and the contact list (your donor list).

ⓘ Everyone who donates is added to this contact list. Each contact record shows the amount they donated and which campaign the donation came from.

Set up the script

  1. In the second step, write the message donors receive after texting your keyword.
  2. Include your donation form link in the message body.
  3. Add a thank-you message for donors.
  4. Click Finish to complete the setup.

ⓘ Raiser's Edge links: If you use a Raiser's Edge donation form link, the system validates it and shows a message indicating whether the link is supported. If the validation fails, check that:

  1. The link is a form link from Raiser's Edge NXT.
  2. Your Raiser's Edge integration is connected in CallHub.
  3. The form link belongs to the same Raiser's Edge account you connected in CallHub.

Track your campaign's performance

The Campaign Overview shows your fundraising metrics at a glance:

Metric What it shows
Total amount raised The total raised from this campaign
Goal reached The percentage of your goal amount reached so far
Average donation amount The average of all donations made in this campaign
Total donors The number of donors who donated through this campaign
New donors The number of first-time donors in this campaign

FAQs

Can I use any donation form link? 
Yes — the script accepts any donation form link. However, Raiser's Edge NXT form links are validated by the system and enable donation tracking within CallHub, so they get the most value from the campaign.

Why is my Raiser's Edge link showing as unsupported? 
Confirm the link is from Raiser's Edge NXT, your integration is connected, and the form belongs to the same Raiser's Edge account connected to CallHub.

Where do donor details go? 
Donors are added to the campaign's contact list, with each contact showing their donation amount and the campaign it came from.
