Want to call or text the voters and supporters you manage in NGP VAN or EveryAction? Here's how to connect your VAN account to CallHub, then import a list of contacts to campaign with.
Connecting NGP VAN to CallHub means you don't have to keep two separate contact systems in sync by hand. You import a Saved List straight from VAN, along with the survey questions, events, and Activist Codes you've already set up there, and use them in your Call Center, SMS Broadcast, and Voice Broadcast campaigns. Once you've run a campaign, canvass responses, event RSVPs, and tags sync back to the voter's VAN record automatically, so your organizers see the full picture without anyone copying data between systems.
Before you start
- Access: a CallHub account with permission to manage integrations, and a VAN account with API access.
- You'll need: a VAN API key and Application Name. Both are required. If you don't have them, email NGPVan Developer Support at APIDevelopers@ngpvan.com to request them.
- Permissions: your VAN API key needs permission to sync data with CallHub. If it doesn't, email APIDevelopers@ngpvan.com to request that CallHub permissions be enabled on your key.
- Works with: both NGPVAN and EveryAction.
- Time: about 10 minutes, plus however long VAN takes to issue your API key if you don't already have one.

- Log in to your CallHub account, then click Integrations from the top menu.

Notes & limits
⚠ Choose your connection mode carefully. Events are available only in My Campaign mode. If you connect in My Voter mode, you won't be able to sync or use event data in your campaigns.
ⓘ A few VAN fields are read-only: Congressional District, State House, State Senate, Polling Location, Polling Address, and Polling City. CallHub can import them, but can't sync changes back to VAN.
ⓘ If a Saved List doesn't appear in CallHub, it's usually a VAN permissions issue. In VAN, go to Folder, select the folder, click Edit folder, then Permissions, and grant access. Also confirm you used Save As after running your search. CallHub can only import lists you've actually saved.
✓ Already connected to VAN from before the Application Name field was added? You don't need to redo the whole setup. Reconnect using your existing API key and add your Application Name.
FAQs
What's the difference between My Voter and My Campaign mode?
My Voter imports Survey responses and Activist Codes. My Campaign adds Events on top of those. Choose My Campaign if you plan to collect event RSVPs in your campaigns.
I don't have a VAN API key. How do I get one?
Email NGPVan Developer Support at APIDevelopers@ngpvan.com and request an API key and Application Name for use with CallHub.
Why can't I see my Saved List in CallHub?
You likely haven't granted permission for that list, or its folder, in VAN. Go to Folder, select the folder, click Edit folder, then Permissions, and grant access. Also make sure you used Save As after running your search.
Does this integration work with EveryAction?
Yes. It works with both NGPVAN and EveryAction.
