In SMS campaigns, you may encounter various status codes that may confuse you. Each status shows data regarding messages from initial validation to send the message to messages that have been accepted for delivery. Status codes are issued by a server in response to a client's request made to the server. You can see the description of each message statuses below:
1.Delivered - this refers to the message that were sent from the server to the carrier and the carrier to the recipient. The carrier then notifies the server that the message has been delivered.
For example: When you send the message “Hi”, the server will send the message to the carrier and the carrier will forward the message to the recipient. The carrier will then notify the server that the message has been “Delivered”.
- Sent - this refers to the message that were sent from the server to the carrier and the carrier sent the message to the recipient but the carrier didn’t notify the server that the message was delivered.
For example: When you send the message “Hi”, the server will send the message to the carrier and the carrier will forward the message to the recipient. However, the carrier did not notify the server that the message was delivered so the message will then be marked as “Sent”.
- No Route - Messages will be marked as “No Route” when the carrier mark the message as spam or the number/Text Message ID is blocked. The carrier usually marks the message as spam based on its content especially messages with shorted links. The carrier also filters based on how many messages have come from a phone number during a time period, how many similar messages have been sent to the carrier’s network. Time periods are measured by the second, minute, hour and day.
For example: In US regulation, there can only be 3600 messages to be sent per Caller ID, if messages are sent more than 3600 messages, the text Message ID will be blocked and the other messages will failed to send. Therefore, messages that failed to send with the blocked Text Message ID will be marked as “No Route”.
- Failed/Not Sent - this refers to the messages that failed to send. This usually happens when the server connection sends the message to the carrier and was failed or if the sending of the message failed from carrier to the recipient.
For example: When you send the message “Hi”, the server will send the message to the carrier however, the connection to send the message to the carrier failed therefore the message is marked as “Failed”.
- Queued - this refers to the messages on queue waiting for the system to send the message.
